A Member of Parliament for Efutu Constituency, Alex Afenyo Markin has accused the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority(SADA) of misappropriating about 19 million cedis meant to secure tractors for government.
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, the Efutu legislator said though some tractors were secured under the erstwhile Atta Mills-led administration, the supply was halted after his death.
“I did the follow up on the issue and when I did this follow up, Jubilee Tractors informed me that yes, when President Mills was alive, some tractors were imported however, when Mr. President John Dramani Mahama assumed office and funds were raised, the then Chief Executive said the tractors were yet to come,” he explained.
He further said “To the extent that he said AGAMS group was to import the tractors. Today when I did the follow up, AGAMS group informed me that they did not receive any money and that they did not even know about it.”
Meanwhile, the AGAMS Group Limited has denied that it was contracted by SADA to supply tractors to government.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, the Corporate Affairs Manager of AGAMS Group Limited, Emmanuel J.K Arthur said “we never had any contract with SADA to supply tractors so we wrote to him drawing his attention to the fact that we don’t have any such contract with SADA,” he explained.
He however declined to comment further on the issue, saying ” we have talked to our lawyers, so I will refrain from giving further comments on the issue.”
