Egypt Kobla Kudoto a former reporter of the Enquirer newspaper has been elected as the Volta Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In all 65 aspirants contested various positions in the women and youth wigs of the party in an election held in Ho on Friday.
[contextly_sidebar id=”9VP7xcSS0emOdY81htjjTyzcOaUuDsvJ”]The trained journalist who formerly worked with the Accra-based private newspaper, Enquirer, was in the race with Courage Danku, personal assistant for Hon. Joseph Amenorwode, former Volta Regional Minister; Hope Nyavedzi, the current Deputy Youth Organizer, and Sidi Abibu, also a Deputy Youth Organizer.
Egypt Kudoto polled 44 votes while his contenders polled 32, and 39 respectively.
The Special Assistant to the Minister of Transport, Madam Dzifa Aku Attivor, has promised to apply his communication skills as a journalist to foster unity among members of the party to create a formidable front, ahead of the 2016 general elections.
The elections were generally peaceful with 295 delegates casting their votes.
Mathias Alagbo and Sulemana Mumuni, polled 46 and 30 votes to secure 1st and 2nd deputy youth organizer positions respectively while the incumbent regional women’s organiser, Madam Mercy Kuada retained her position.
Mercy Kuada polled 23 out of 54 votes cast, beating her two other contenders, Eli Amegashiti and Bridget Simpi, who both had 19 and 12 votes respectively.
The number of delegates for the youth election were 86 while delegates were eligible for the election for the women’s organiser.
