The Upper West Regional Police Command has deployed 80 Police personnel to Wa to restore peace after clashes between two feuding factions in the regional capital.
The deployed personnel are expected to augment a joint police-military team which is already on grounds maintaining law and order after the incident.
Citi News Upper West Regional correspondent, Latif Mahama reported that the “acting Upper West Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Edmund Nyamekye said, some personnel have also been tasked to protect some prominent individuals whose lives are in utmost danger. He said his men will leave no stone unturned to ensure calm is restored in the two communities.”

The injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the Upper West Regional Hospital.
So far 21 persons have been arrested in connection with the violence.
Latif Mahama further indicated that some people have started fleeing the area for fear that the situation could degenerate into further chaos.
“Children have also complained they are not able to attend school as a result of the dispute,” he added.
