A pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) pressure group in the Northern Region, has condemned the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s recent call on the party’s delegates to vote for people he [Asiedu Nketiah] deemed qualified.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah made the call at the campaign launch of incumbent NDC national Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Agyei who is seeking reelection.
Asiedu Nketia said at the campaign launch that: “On my way here somebody said, ‘are you going to endorse Dr Kwabena Adjei?’ I said, Dr Kwabena Adjei doesn’t need my endorsement, he is an endorsement in himself, because your records will speak for you.”
According to him, “the party at this stage needs dedicated and loyal leaders to retain it in power come 2016.”
[contextly_sidebar id=”nkRGoSB9JqZozt3xGiRjfwmiqOcTAkwZ”]He however assured that his doors were open to any candidate who wants him to be at their campaign launch but warned “I will be available but I will come with the records I know about that person and then relate those records.”
The pressure group, Concerned Group of NDC said it is unhappy with Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s intimidating comments.
The group’s Spokesperson, Gariba A. Zakariah claimed, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah’s “open endorsement” of Dr. Kwabena Agyei at his campaign launch amounted to discrimination and an abuse of the party’s constitution.
He told Citi News the group will resist any attempt by John Asiedu Nketiah “to impose his surrogates on the party at all levels.”
He notified the NDC General Secretary to stop behaving as if the party is his private property.
