New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Alan Kyeremanten has asked delegates to carefully examine all the contenders vying for the flagbearership slot before voting on October 18.
The former Trade Minister made subtle references to the ambitions of his main opponent Nana Akufo-Addo who is attempting for the third time to become president of Ghana.
“When people want to contest for positions, I think what voters need to do is to find out what their record is. We have to separate ambition from ability and the fact that you want to be President. We all have ambitions but the issue is not about your ambition, it is about your capacity and your ability and that ability must be based on your record,” Alan said.
Alan Kyeremanten believes he has a “clear” track record both in Ghana and around the world to merit the votes of the delegates.

Whether it is in Ghana, or whether is in Africa or internationally”
The NPP will hold its congress on Saturday, October 18, 2014 to select the flagbearer to lead the party in the 2016 elections.
The aspirants contesting for the flagbear slot are Nana Akufo Addo, Alan Kyeremanten, and Francis Addai Nimoh.
Addressing a meeting of delegates ahead of Saturday’s Congress, Alan Kyeremanten promised transforming Ghana if he gets the support of the NPP and by extension the larger Ghanaian electorate.
He stressed that the campaign is not about his personal ambition but the NPP saying “this campaign is about the NPP is not about Alan wanting to be a President. It is not a personal ambition. This campaign is not about me, it is about Ghana.”
He further stated that Ghanaians are looking for that type of leader who will provide the “visionary and bold leadership” that will transform Ghana.
Alan Kyeremanten in a bid to win the hearts of party delegates in the Volta Region, earlier promised bicycles and other goodies if they elect him as flagbearer at the party’s impending congress on October 18.
“This time, if you make Alan your flagbearer, I will ensure that every executive, from polling station to coordinator to constituency will have the means of transport either bicycle or motorbike.”
“Your bicycle will be registered in your personal name so that even when you are not an executive you can take it home as your reward for working for the party,”he said.
