UK operator Virgin Media said it set a record for network traffic on 17 September, driven by customers downloading the iOS 8 update from Apple.
Virgin said peak traffic was up 10 percent, with traffic exceeding 5,900 TB during 18.00 hours and midnight.
The increase seen on Virgin Media’s cable network was equivalent to the 920MB update being downloaded over 600,000 times.
The company expects the increased demand to last through the weekend.
