The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) says prolonged political campaigning in Ghana is negatively affecting the country’s development.
The GBA said the long years of campaigning for political power creates tension and do not augur well for progress.
Speaking at the GBA’s Annual General Meeting in Cape Coast, President of the Association, Nene Amegatcher says political campaigning should be relegated to the background till three months to elections.
[contextly_sidebar id=”gqfE3XLUea5tGnHccPfLgKUpdD3Ut3Ov”]“We must find a means to curtail political campaigns possibly to the last three months before elections” the GBA President said at the Association’s annual meeting in Cape Coast Monday”.
He added that, “”politics has been made so attractive in this country that the technocrats seeing the benefits derived by their political superiors have been struggling to be like them”.
The GBA President also charged the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure that recommendation from the 9 eminent justices who presided over the election petition in 2012 should implemented to avoid possible chaos in 2016.
