The “One Man Supporter”, Abraham Boakye has called on delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to vote for Alan Kyerematen, a presidential aspirant hopeful of the party, at the national congress in October.
He made the call at Alan Kyerematen’s campaign launch at Abeka Lapaz on Saturday, adding that although he considers Nana Addo an “accomplished politician” he believes Alan is the right man to take the party forward.
Mr. Aboakye told Citi News that he believed that Kyerematen has “proved that as president of Ghana, he can make a difference,” including in the sports sector.
Former Trades minister Alan Kyerematen is one of three aspirants vying for party’s presidential candidacy in the 2016 elections.
Also vying for the position are the Member of Parliament for Mampong in the Ashanti Region, Francis Addai Nimo and the presidential candidate for the 2008 and 2012 elections, Nana Akufo Addo.
Two other candidates, Kofi Osei Ameyaw and Joe Ghartey have pulled out of the race citing the need to maintain unity in the party as the reason for their decisions.
