Special Aide to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) General Secretary, Iddrisu Musah Superior has “ambushed: his boss by openly endorsing lead contender in the party’s flag bearer race, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Iddrisu Musah Superior exclusively told citifmonline.com that Nana Akufo Addo remained the “NPP’s winnable candidate for 2016.”
[contextly_sidebar id=”X8oX2zn0XHqhQtJ7tH9OcGHOk07o8L3r”]He explained, “I have worked and canvassed for Nana Addo since 1998: he was my choice over President Kufuor and the rest in Sunyani and has always been in the entire intra-party contest to elect our flag bearer since his first attempt in 1998: I believe he still remains our party’s strongest bet for the upcoming crucial national elections.
“Nana Addo has shown without a shred of doubt that he understands our party, the country and the people: as a longtime frontline activist and advocate for democratic governance and the rule of law, he spearheaded the fight for freedom of speech and association: working with other believers of social and economic democracy,” Superior eulogized Nana Akufo Addo.
He therefore pleaded with all NPP delegates to overwhelmingly endorse the party’s three times Presidential hope during the forthcoming October 18 national delegates’ congress.
“I reaffirm my support for Nana Addo and call on all delegates to vote massively for him for a resounding victory to send a clear message to the NDC that we are here for business as a government in waiting.”
Musah Superior predicted a massive endorsement of Nana Akufo Addo on October 18 saying, “I expect a massive win for Nana Addo on the 18th October: it will be a win for the party and the country: our country is slipping slowly to death.”
Iddrisu Musah Superior jumped to the defense of his boss, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong and described him as a neutral person in the party’s heated flag bearer contest.
He also called for ceasefire on character assassination in the NPP and advocated the necessity for all party loyalists to build bridges for a resounding victory in 2016.
“As we approach the Election Day: I urge all members and supporters of our great party to conduct ourselves in a manner that will not hurt the party going forward: we must be guided by what binds us together and the battle ahead: we might differ in our choices for who becomes our flag bearer but we agree that our Party is the most viable Party that can defeat the NDC and manage the economy well.”
He lambasted the governing National Democratic Congress for what he described as President John Mahama’s failure to fix the nation’s ailing economy.
“The economy is completely derided: government has failed monumentally to steer the affairs of the country properly and every sector of the Ghanaian economy is in total shambles.”
He said, “We need a leader who will revive the economy: a leader who is decisive and proactive: a leader who can rally the nation in difficult times and a leader who will deliver a system to check the wanton corrupt practices witnessed in the Mahama led administration: that leader is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo; a leader with great conviction and clarity in his believe for our country.”
Ahead of NPP’s October 18 national delegates congress, Nana Akufo-Addo has enjoyed a wave of support from very important quarters within the party.
Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joe Ghartey, after bowing out of the flagbearership race, pledged his support for Nana Addo.
On Friday, Minority Leader in Parliament Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu waxed lyrical about the candidature of Nana Addo, urging party supporters to consider him as a leader.
Osei Ameyaw, one of the candidates that made it to the list of top 5 to contest in the October 18 congress has also declared support for Nana Addo after dropping out of the race.
