The Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Aristo Aryee has described a court injunction restraining the party from holding its constituency elections as unnecessary.
He accused the plaintiffs of failing to use internal party channels to address their grievances.
“As much I want to believe that they went to court genuinely I also believe that they also didn’t do what they were suppose to do before they went to court,” he insisted.
Some members of the NDC on Friday secured an injunction restraining the party from holding election in three constituencies in the Greater Accra Region.

This is the third time such action has been initiated against the party in the past few weeks.
In the latest development, a member of the party, Bismark Aborbi-Aryitey in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, dragged the party to court for wrongful disqualification of his bid to contest for the Youth Organizer position in the constituency.
Speaking on Citi Fm’s Eye Witness News, Aristo Aryee said although he has not yet received copies of the injunction, they [NDC] are ready to comply with the court’s decision to have such bottlenecks rectified.
“We will abide by the court decision and we will hold on till the substantive cases are addressed,” he assured.
Meanwhile, the Lawyer of Bismark Aborbi-Aryitey, Victor Opeku speaking on the same programme said teh parties had no option but to go court.
“The list that represents the final list for persons to go to the delegates conference was released just last night and that gives them no time or whatsoever to be able to use those measures in the NDC constitution to correct this conduct. So they were left with no other option than to go to court. The court is there for everybody so its their right and i think that is the duty of democracy,” he said.
He added that:“We have nothing personally against the NDC as a party and am sure the NDC themselves know about it. The country is a law abiding country govern with the rule of law therefore they are bound to obey the laws of this land.”
A similar case was dismissed by an Accra High Court brought before it an aspiring member of the party.
