Presidential hopeful, Nana Akufo-Addo has stated that he does not fear competition from any of the other candidates seeking to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Supporters of the two-time presidential candidate have been pressurizing executives of the party and the other contestants, Alan Kyeremanteng, Addai Nimoh and Kofi Osei Ameyaw to allow Nana Addo to contest unopposed.
But speaking to delegates on his campaign tour in the Upper West Region Nana Addo said the calls are unnecessary. He said he is prepared for competition.
“I’m not going to worry myself about people standing down or not, I welcome competition. I have always welcomed competition.”
He added that;“the party must speak emphatically like the party spoke emphatically on August 31.”

“Our opponents will know that the NPP is resolute. This is the way that we are going and we are determined to go that way. Nobody should have any doubt about it. The NPP is determined, united and focused,” he added.
Nana Akufo-Addo earlier told Citi News he will maintain the same strategy that won him over 81% of votes during the party’s super delegates congress.
“Unfortunately because of the time, I will not be able to do what I did in 2010 which is to go to every constituency and meet the people there. The time frame shows that will not be possible and this kind of thing, if you start in some constituencies and you don’t go to others, that is also not a good thing, so I am going to be grouping people together and meet them so I can get my message through,” he said.
Meanwhile after two weeks of consultation, Francis Addai-Nimoh, one of the presidential hopefuls said he has finally decided to contest Nana Akufo-Addo and the two others at the congress on October 18.
In a statement issued on Monday he said he was “deeply moved by the trust that has been placed in him” and thanked the delegates of the special electoral college of the NPP for shortlisting him as one of the five persons to contest for the flagbearer position of the party.
