The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has begun its nationwide constituency elections in the Tamale South constituency in the Northern Region.
As the maiden constituency election, the CPP’s Tamale South constituency electoral college by popular acclamation confirmed unopposed all those who contested the various positions.
The Sagnarigu District Electoral Commission Officer, Fadilatu Mahama supervised the exercise.
The newly confirmed Tamale South constituency CPP executives were inaugurated in line with the party’s constitution.
The CPP Northern Regional first Vice Chairman, Alidu Mahama appealed to the party’s leadership at the grassroots to avoid internal wrangling and take steps to rebuild the party.
He advised the Samia Yaaba Nkrumah-led national executives to assiduously work towards wrestling power from the governing NDC in 2016.
He urged the leadership of the party to rebrand and make the party attractive to the youth.
A founding father of the CPP, Senchen Komba condemned the NPP and the NDC for allegedly dividing the Ghanaian electorates on tribal lines.
He described the two major political parties as the cause of the nation’s socio-economic stagnation and posited that only a CPP government can salvage the nation’s ailing economy.
Mr. Komba thus challenged all CPP loyalists to abandon the NPP and the NDC return to build a vibrant CPP to win power in 2016.
The CPP Northern Regional Chairman, Alhaji Issah Zorro implored the Tamale South constituency executives to embark on door to door campaigns to unseat the incumbent MP Harunah Iddrisu in 2016.
He stressed the need for the CPP to win political power in 2016 and complete the unfinished agenda of the party’s founder and the nation’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s vision.
He called for deeper collaboration between CPP leadership at all levels to reposition the party to win the next general elections.
