The National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Sammi Awuku has described the yet-to-be-launched Youth Enterprise Support (YES) fund by the government as another “avenue for people to loot” state funds.
The President will, later on Tuesday, launch the Youth Enterprise Support initiative, which will seek to provide more innovative jobs and opportunities to contain unemployed Ghanaian youth across the country.
The launch of the initiative, which will take place at 7:00pm, is in fulfillment of President John Dramani Mahama’s 2012 campaign promise where he pledged to support Ghanaian youth to develop their innovative business ideas into viable and profitable ventures.
However, addressing a news conference marking the International Youth Day, Sammi Awuku called the YES fund “another unrealistic promise” by President Mahama’s government, adding that it was just “another avenue for people to create, loot and share.”
He stated that the “unpardonable and unprecedented failure” of the NDC government was regrettable but that “they refuse to believe that the[YES fund] is going to serve as any motivation.”
