A Deputy communication officer of the New party, Mike Oquaye Jnr. the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed reports that the party is in turmoil.
Some executives of the party have threatened to resist decisions taken by the General Secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyepong.
These threats were issued as a result of Mr Agyepong ‘s recent decision to relieve Perry Okudzeto of his duties as communications director of the party without informing the party’s hierarchy.
However, in an interview Eye Witness News, Mr. Oquaye JR refuted reports that tension is brewing in the party and called on members of the NPP to wait for clarification from Kwabena Agyepong before drawing conclusions.
“To say the party is in turmoil is a bit unfortunate and we are not in turmoil, I think we can describe this as some misunderstanding that have arisen in a situation where we are seeking certain clarification and the only person who can clarify is Kwabena Agyepong himself”
“You don’t come on radio to wash your dirty linen in public, the first thing is talk to Kwabena Agyepong and see what is happening”, he added.
He later revealed Mr Agyepong was busy with party work in the Greater Accra region and he would clarify issues in due time.
Mike Oquaye also denied reports that Mr. Agyepong is running a one-man show saying “they are allegations that the steering committee did not sit down to deliberate on these matters before decisions were taken in my humble opinion if this was to be the case then it is wrong and if that were not to be the case that is not wrong.”
