Voting is underway in the Eastern Region at at the Oyisa hotel, Koforidua with 74 out of 88 delegates already casting their votes.
14 delegates are expected to cast their vote before the exercise is brought to an end.
The remaining 14 delegates comprise of 6 members of parliament, 5 founding members and 3 chairmen of the party.
According to Citi FM’s Eastern regional correspondent, Kwame Appiah Kubi, the ongoing exercise has been peaceful with no reported case of violence in the region.
Speaking to CitiNews, a leading member of the NPP, Boakye Agyarko confirmed the process in the Eastern Region had been peaceful and added they were currently waiting for the remaining 14 delegates to come and cast their votes.
“It has been very peaceful, just as we expected no tension we are just waiting for some of our delegates to come and cast their votes. We are making progress and we are happy with the outcome,” he said.
He also added that, officers at the polling station had already contacted the 14 delegates and they are expected to cast their votes soon.
“We have contacted some of them, some are on their way from Accra and those in Koforidua are heading to the polling station to cast their vote”
Mr. Agyarko urged delegates to cast their votes before 1500GMT.
