The seven candidates vying to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2016 presidential elections balloted for positions on the ballot paper on Tuesday morning.
Former Trade and Industry Minister, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku picked the number one spot on the ballot followed by Stephen Asamoah Boateng with Francis Addai Nimoh at the third position.
Kofi Osei Ameyaw will be fourth on the paper while John Kwadwo Alan Kyerematen and Nana Akufo-Addo will be fifth and at sixth respectively.
Joe Ghartey will occupy the seventh position.
Nana Akufo Addo, who led the party for the 2008 and 2012 elections and Stephen Asamoah Boateng, a former minister of information, were present at the short ceremony at the party’s headquarters in Accra.
The rest of the contestants had their representatives pick for them.
Speaking on Citi Prime News, the former Information Minister said the second spot was a sign of victory for him.
‘’I am happy with the number two position; God is going to make a change, no ordinary change, but a refreshing change…,’’ he added.
A Special Delegates Congress for the election of a presidential candidate has been scheduled for August 31, 2014.
