President John Mahama has nominated a former Finance Minister, Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, as Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).
He will be taking over from the late Ing. P. V. Obeng.
Dr. Botchwey who is Ghana’s longest serving finance minister was a PNDC Secretary for Finance and became Minister for Finance and Economic Planning following the transition to constitutional rule in 1992.
He is currently the Board Chairman of the Ghana National Gas Company.
The President has also appointed Dr. Nii Moi Thompson as Acting Director-General of the NDPC.
Until his appointment, Dr. Thompson was an Economic Adviser to the President.
