The New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2012 Presidential candidate, Nana Ado Danquah Akufo Addo will start his campaign tour of the three regions of the north on Wednesday July 30, 2014 beginning with the Upper East Region.
Nana Ado is expected to meet with NPP delegates in Bolgatanga, interact with party supporters and proceed to the Northern Region on Thursday July 31, 2014.
Anxious NPP supporters and sympathizers of Nana Akufo Ado in the Upper East and Northern Regions told Citi News they could not wait to welcome the man they believe is capable of solving Ghana’s economic challenges.
Some true blue NPP supporters in the Tamale Metropolis described Nana Ado as a time tested politician whose track record is unmatched with that of his competitors in the NPP flag bearer race.
Some said Nana Ado was well marketed and could win sympathy votes in 2016 due to the outcome of the 2012 electoral petition.
Others insisted the Nana-Bawumia ticket should be maintained for the 2016 general elections.
In a related development, the NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu stressed the need for unity before, during and after the upcoming flag bearer contest.
He said Ghanaians will curse the UP tradition if power eludes the NPP in 2016 as a result of their irresponsibility and internal bickering.
“Ghanaians are all awake praying for the NPP to win power in 2016 and if we don’t actually unite and we do not win 2016, Ghanaians will never forgive NPP and of course the UP family.”
Mr. Naabu warned, “Ghanaians will curse us so I am still making an appeal that after the primary I will plead everybody should rally behind the winner of our Presidential slot to enable the party win the 2016 general elections.”
Banking his hope on Ghana’s current ailing economy, Mr. Bugri Naabu anticipated the NPP’s landslide victory in 2016.
