Another demonstration to hit the nation as civil society organization called the Mass Action Committee threatens to hit the streets on August 5.
Organizers of the intended demonstration deferred the event which was planned for Thursday July 24, 2014 in solidarity with the nationwide labour unrest declared by leadership of organized labour on the same day.
Spokesperson for the Mass Action Committee, Atik Mohammed in a press statement said the intended demonstration will be dubbed, ““Bring Back Our Normal Ghana.”
He implied that Ghanaians could no longer tolerate what he described as the untold hardships inflicted on them by government.
He unveiled the MAC’s agenda to replicate the intended demonstration across the country.
He acknowledged the upcoming nationwide demonstration declared by leadership of organized labour and assured the organizers of the full participation of the MAC members.
“We accordingly wish to assure our comrades on the labour front that they have our unconditional support and that we shall be with them all throughout their demonstration.’
“We also wish to use this opportunity to extend invitation to all well-meaning Ghanaians especially our colleagues in organized labour to participate in the “Bring Back Our Normal Ghana” demonstration which has been rescheduled for 5th August, 2014.
Atik Mohammed called for collective cry on government to fix the nation’s ailing economy.
“To this end, we are entreating all Ghanaians i.e. teachers, students, traders, business men and women, farmers, nurses, doctors, artisans, politicians, Civil Society Organizations, lawyers, journalists to note the date and accordingly grace this all important national exercise with their loud participation.”
