Well-known music producer and recording engineer, Edward Nana Poku Osei, better known as Hammer of the Last Two, has joined the MTN Hit-Maker music talent contest as a judge.

Hammer who is the CEO of the Last Two Music Group is known for grooming and recording artistes such as Obrafour, Tinny, Kwaw Kesse, Edem and Sarkodie. He has replaced producer, engineer and guitarist, Zapp Mallet, on the programme.

MTN Hit-Maker III was launched at the MTN Ghana Head Office, Ridge Towers in Accra last Thursday, July 24, and Hammer was introduced to the guests at the launch.

“I think Hit- Maker is a good platform. It has already initiated some new artistes into the industry. This year, I’m bringing my expertise on board, fully loaded in overdose,” Hammer said at the launch.

“Though I’m going to be painfully honest and painfully blunt, I’ll help make sure that the good guys get to the top.I urge all fans of Hit-Maker and music in general to stay glued to their television sets because we are going to have a lot of fun.”

The other two MTN Hit-Maker judges are Bessa Simons and Ofie Kodjoe. The tag line for this year’s contest is  ‘Dream It, Live It.’

The launch was also used to outdoor two singles by Koo Ntakara, winner of last year’s contest. The songs are Go Harder and Tititantor.

Between now and August 22, young musicians interested in the show can drop their demos at MTN branch offices across the country; upload demos on the MTNplay portal or drop their demos at partner radio stations.

According to Richard Acheampong, MTN Ghana’s Head of Marketing, when the period of demo collection ends, the screening and auditions would begin till 10 artistes are selected to feature in the 13-week television reality show.

“As always, there will be eviction shows during the 13-week period till we have only four contestants left to battle it out for the ultimate prize which is a recording deal worth Ghc100,000,” Acheampong added.

The first MTN Hit-Maker contest was won by Naterial with Miriam as the runner-up.
