Organized Labour wants the President, John Mahama to give specific timelines and measures his government intends to implement to address the challenges facing the nation.
The President in his Eid-Ul Fitr message on Monday revealed he has taken note of Organized Labour’s concerns and will address them soon.
He pledged to treat the concerns of workers “with all the seriousness they deserve.’’
This follows a nationwide demonstration embarked on by workers last Thursday to protest the socio-economic hardships Ghanaians have been bedeviled with.
But speaking to Citi News, the General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), Solomon Amon Kotie said the President must be more specific on what he is doing to address their problems.
He was of the opinion that that the President spoke in general terms regarding the demands by workers.
Mr. Kotei indicated that President Mahama has given Ghanaians numerous promises which are yet to materialize.
He recalled that over the past two years, the President has on various occasions promised to fixing the energy crisis but the challenges still persist.
The ICU boss expressed the hope that President Mahama will fulfill his promises to Organized Labour.
He wished the President well in his decision to revive the nation’s economy and alleviate the hardships of citizens.
“If he’s now come out again, five good months to the end of the year, once we are positive minded Ghanaians, we wishing him well and wishing the economy well and we hope that Ghana will not fall into pieces,” said Kotei.
