The construction of seven day Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Brong Ahafo Region is set to commence.
The Deputy Minister in-charge of pre-tertiary education, Alex Kyereme is currently in the region break grounds for the construction of the schools in fulfilment of the government’s plan to build seventy three schools within the next eighteen months.
The ceremony which starts from Monday at Abaase in the Pran district of the region will pave way for the contractors to start construction works scheduled to be completed within eighteen months.
The Deputy Minister together with the consultants working on the projects will move to Anyima in the Kintampo South District and proceed to Krobo in the Takyiman North District on Wednesday.
According to Mr. Kyereme, the contractors have been asked to complete the projects as scheduled because all the needed funds will be provided to them without delay and that the government will not countenance any delays on the part of the contractors.
He said the projects were important to the President tasked all beneficiary communities in the region including Kasapen in the Ahafo area, Derma in Tano north and Dormaa as well as Banda Ahenkro to make sure the contractors give them value for money.
Meanwhile, the same ceremony is on-going in the other regions of the country as the Minister in Charge of Education, the other Deputy Minister and Directors at the Ministry do so in their assigned communities according to the Deputy Minister.
However, in a related development Mr. Kyereme admonished head-teachers who have allowed their schools to charge motivation levies for teachers to put a stop to it since it is illegal.
