Ghana’s Black Starlets might play Cameroon in the final round of qualifying of the African U-17 Championships after the Young Lions beat Burkina Faso 2-0 over the weekend in Yaounde.
The Cameroonians are due to play the return leg in Ouagadougou between the 1st and 3rd of August and should they win, they will face Ghana.
However, a 3-0 defeat will give Burkina Faso the opportunity to play neighbours Ghana in the final qualifier the weekend of the 12th to 14th (in the first leg) and the 26th and 28th of September, 2014.
Ghana coach Paa Kwesi Fabin recognises the fact that Cameroon could advance and has stated that the technical team would have a look at the team when they come to Burkina Faso. This, he says, would give them a few pointers on their unknown potential opponents.
“We do not have any information on the Cameroonians but we will travel to Burkina Faso to watch them play there.
Of course, we will look at the two teams so that we can prepare adequately for any of them. These plans will guide us in how we get ready for the final round,”the coach told Citi Sports in an interview on Monday.
The final eight teams from the series will make it to the African Championships in Niger in 2015.
