A group calling itself the Network of CIMG Marketing Women of the Year has launched the “Believe It, Achieve It” leadership mentorship program.
The initiative is designed to harness the knowledge and leadership skills of various marketing women of the year as well as other women in leadership as a resource for mentoring young females in high schools and corporate institutions as well as young female entrepreneurs.
The initiative was developed by the current marketing woman of the year and the Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Communications Africa Ltd(Startcom Africa), Esther A. N. Cobbah.
Presenting the concept, Ms. Cobbah said “Sowing the seed of future success at an early stage helps attain what we aspire to be over the course of our lives”
”It is not intended that we just paint a rosy picture of the working experiences of the women who are part of this network. Challenges, the strivings and even the failures can provide important life lessons,” she added.
The launch took place at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra.
Ms. Maidie Arkutu, the first female Managing Director of the Ghana subsidiary of Unilever launched the initiative.
She expressed her excitement about the opportunities that the mentorship programme will give young female.
She also gave assurance of her personal support to the realization of the goal of the initiative .
In his remarks, Mr. Kojo Mattah, Vice President of CIMG said, he was delighted that women are evolving solutions to obstacles that have hindered their progress in the past and gave assurance of CIMG support to the initiative.
Ms. Sherry Aryittey, Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, 1990 Marketing Woman of the Year, Chaired the function.
She said, the initiative will provide a solid platform for women leaders who seek to support the realization of goals of young women to channel their efforts to better society.
