An attempt by the Yendi Municipal Security Council to stop the Abudu Royals from celebrating this year’s Eid-ul fetir festival in Yendi has fallen flat.
Citi News intercepted a letter signed by Chairman of the Yendi Municipal Security Council, Issah Zakariah who sought to ban the Abudu Royals from celebrating the festival.
In response, the Abudus Regent, Boling-Lana Mahamadu Abdulai rubbished the letter and said they will celebrate the festival in a grand style in Yendi.
The Boling-Lana cautioned the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, Issah Zakariah against what he described as acts of impunity which could destabilize the fragile peace in Yendi.
He claimed the Yendi MCE had no locus determining who should celebrate any festival and at what day in Yendi.
The Boling-Lana Mahamadu Abdulai declared the Abudu Royals persistence to resist any attempts by the Yendi MCE to infringe on their fundamental human rights.
He called on President John Dramani Mahama to warn the Yendi MCE to stop taking sides in Dagbon chieftaincy matters for peace to prevail in Yendi.
Below is the Abudu Royals response:
