Three police officers of the Upper West Regional Police Command were on Tuesday remanded into prisons custody by the Wa Circuit court presided over by His Honor Bright Issac Kwentey for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old primary six pupil.

The three, Lance Corporal Joseph Kwakoh, Constable Appiah Donald and Constable George Tanoi, are to reappear in court on July 31.

During court proceedings on Tuesday, Constable Appiah pleaded guilty to the offence while his two colleagues pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement.

Speaking to Citi News, the acting Upper West Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Edmond Nyamekye said the three had sexual intercourse with the 12-year-old in turns at different times.

He said on June 24, the father of the victim, John Bosco who resides at Kpaguri, a suburb of Wa reported that his daughter was missing.

He said on July 5, information got to him that the girl was found loitering around the Wa Polytechnic junction and when she was brought to the Police station, she accused the three Police officers of abducting and defiling her.

ASP Edmond Nyamekye said Constable Appiah picked up the girl on June 30 with his motorbike and sent her to his house where she spent three days.

On July 3rd, Tanoi reportedly visited Appiah and was asked to send the girl home but Tanoi rather sent the girl to his house and also defiled her till the next day.

The victim was later seen loitering around the Police barracks looking for Appiah when the third Police officer, Kwakoh took advantage over her and also defiled her.

Citi News sources have revealed that the three suspects have been interdicted ahead of their appearance in court on July 31 when judgment is expected to be delivered.
