Two people were reportedly killed by armed robbers on the main Cape Coast- Assin Fosu road on Monday.
Speaking to an eyewitness, Citi News Central Regional correspondent Kwamena Bamfo Adjei gathered that a gang made up of six men set up barricades on the Assin Edubiase and Assin Nkwanta road, blocking the vehicles and attacking them.
Passengers in over fifteen commercial vehicles were reportedly robbed of their possessions, including money and phones.
According to the eyewitness, one of the deceased was shot because he refused to comply with the robbers demand for money.
A driver of an articulated truck, presumably on seeing the shooting, drove through the barricades the robbers had set up.
The second man, who was driving behind the truck in a private car, tried to follow suit, but was shot dead in the process.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Mr Raymond Asaba told reporters that investigations into the situation were still ongoing.
