Africa is rising and gaining prominence in the world. The story of Africa as told to global audiences is gradually changing, even though there is a lot of room for improvement.

Ghana’s award winning Hip-hop artiste Sarkodie says even though Africa is rising one issue that still needs attention is unity. His concern is captured in the promotional video for Multichoice Africa’s Africa Rising campaign.

According to Sarkodie, “Africa is rising up but I think we have one issue to solve, that is unity which we keep preaching. That’s the only way we can move forward. Now we are moving individually which makes it a bit hard for us to attain whatever we want to attain.”

He further explained that the unity of Africa would consolidate the gains of the continent.

“From the standing point as a musician, if we were to be one, my impact would have been much more greater than now. I would not be a Ghanaian artiste but an African artiste,” he said.

MultiChoice’s Africa Rising, is a campaign focussed on creating shared value, designed to inspire Africans to become involved in community-based social investment projects.

The campaign is supported by Channel O Africa and has Tiwa Savage, Davido, Sarkodie, Micasa, Diamond and Lola Rae driving the campaign.

MultiChoice has released a music video featuring the Africa Rising ambassadors. The video, which was filmed in Ghana sees the ambassadors preaching the language of hope, positivity and African pride.
