Some members of the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East region have given president John Dramani Mahama a four-day ultimatum to re-instate Dr. Avia Nsor as the Upper East Regional Minister or lose the 2016 elections.
President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday nominated Ghana’s Permanent ambassador to the United Nations, James Zuugah Tiigah, as Minister-designate for the region.
The decision seems to have outraged some of the NDC in the region with some members of the party calling on the president to reverse his decision.
In an interview with Citi News, the Chairman of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), Mr Solomon Adongo joined the calls on the President instate the former minister Mr. Nsor or reassign him to another portfolio or risk losing the 2016 general election
He further added that “when it comes to party activities, we do not know him. It is not Bongo alone but the entire people of the Upper East Region”
Some supporters of the NDC went on rampage in Wa in the Upper West Region on Thursday destroying party property over the president’s decision to replace the Regional Minister, Bede Ziedeng.
