The Northern Regional Police Command has deployed more personnel to Gbunpiri, the area where four people were killed by armed robbers on Thursday while transporting a bullion van.
The four, two policemen, a banker and a driver of the East Mamprusi Community Bank, met their untimely death when armed robbers opened fire on them on seeing the bullion van approaching.
According to the Police, the robbers allegedly absconded with the weapons of the policemen.
They, however, left the money in the bullion van untouched.
The Public Relations Officer of the Northern Regional Police Command ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, speaking to Citi News, said that early reports indicate that the motive of the robbers was to kill the policemen and take their weapons and not to rob the bullion van.
He revealed that a manhunt for the suspects was ongoing and that measures were being taken to assure that the security of other members of the police service in the area.
