A group calling itself Coalition of Mamprugu NPP Constituency Executives is calling on the government to order the contractor of the Walewale-Nalegerigu Bukurugu road to return to the site and complete the project.
The call was made at a press conference held by the Coalition, which is made up of all the five constituencies in Mamprugu, in the Northern Region.
Work begun on that stretch of road about nine years ago under the erstwhile Kufuor administration.
According to the coalition, work on the road, which leads to the Paramount Chief of Mamprugu, has stalled since the NDC came into power in 2009
In 2012, however, a sod-cutting ceremony was held where the government reaffirmed its commitment to completing the project.
The Walewale constituency secretary for the NPP, Simon Ali, stated that the road leads to one of the most renowned hospitals in the Northern Region region, the Baptist Medical Center, where various people go to seek health care.
The incomplete nature of the road, however, has caused the deaths of many people who use the road including pregnant women.
