Buipewura leads hundreds to clean Buipe

The Buipewura, Mahama Abdulai Jinapor II, Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area, has called on entrepreneurs, institutions and voluntary organizations in the area to support the Central Gonja District Assembly and the traditional council to regulate waste disposal to attract investors to the area.

He noted that the elimination of filth in the community will impact positively on the health needs of the people.

The Buipewura Jinapor II said this after leading hundreds of residents, sub-chiefs, voluntary organizations, school children, security agencies and officials of Zoomlion to undertake a clean-up exercise in the District Capital.

The exercise started from the District assembly premises through to the central business district where homes were swept, weeds cleared, de-silted gutters, collected garbage and cleared refuse dumps which have been the cause of flooding in the area.

He tasked the youth to disciplined and resourceful in developing the traditional area and commended residents maintaining peace and unity that is promoting development.

He emphasized the development of Gonjaland was the responsibility of all residents and called for collective efforts in finding a lasting solution to environmental degradation in the area and appealed to residents use the last Saturday of every month to clean their homes and surroundings to sustain the exercise.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr Mumuni Shiraz Yasri commended the Buipewura for his exemplary leadership and patriotism and called on the youth to emulate him.

He noted the exercise was in line with government’s vision of promoting healthy environment for people to live a clean life and pledged his outfit’s readiness to the traditional council and others stakeholders for similar exercises.

He said such exercise creates awareness among residents about the need for good sanitation and asked community leaders to periodically lead the people in clean-up exercises.

The Chairman of the Buipe branch of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Tahiru Abdul-Rahman described the initiative of the Buipewura visionary and called for more interventions to improve upon the living standards of the people.
