Some students of the Cape Coast Polytechnic have complained about the indefinite strike by the Polytechnic Teachers Association of Ghana (POTAG) and are adamant the on-going strike is adversely affecting studies and upcoming exams.
The national association executive of POTAG announced a nationwide strike on Friday over arrears in the payment of their outstanding book and research allowance for its members.
The book allowance of Polytechnic lecturers currently stands at $1,500 per year per lecturer, while the research component stands at GH¢400.
The strike has left many students in a fix as they cannot tell when their lecturers will be returning from strike.
““We have still not been informed when they are coming back” One told Citi News.
Speaking to Citi News, the students pleaded with the government to intervene as they risk vacating late “the government will have to do something about the strike action we don’t know when we are starting our exams and also when we are going for vacation so it is a big problem for us.”
