Head coach of newly-crowned league champions Asante Kotoko, Mas-Ud Dramani has backed the relevance of the annual clash between his side and rivals, Hearts of Oak.
The two teams will face each other this weekend at the Baba Yara Stadium on Match Day 29 of the First Capital Plus Premier League but despite the result being of no consequence to Kotoko, Dramani still believes the match still holds as much value for the teams and football fans across the country.
” The match is more than the points as stake and there is a lot that goes into it. We must admit that without Hearts and Kotoko, football in Ghana will not have any fun.
I think it is the right time to give something to our fans because they are itching to see the teams play at this level”, Dramani said in an interview with SuperSport after the team’s 2-0 victory over King Faisal in Sunday’s MTN semi final at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Aside fans, Dramani stated that players were also eager to feature in the big clash on Sunday that would be the 100th meeting the two teams.
” Every player I know wants to play in the match and my players are ready to play. I believe Hearts players are also waiting for the match as well. Even if players are half-fit, they will try very hard to be fully ready for the tie.”
Kotoko are on top of the league table with 54 points while Hearts have 44 points with two games left in the season.
