Ghana’s under 20 male team have gone past Sierra Leone to the next stage of African Youth Championship qualifiers.
The Ghanaians, at home, battled from behind to beat Sierra Leone 2-1 in the northern city of Tamale.
The win is a massive shot in the arm for Ghana’s quest to get into the next African Youth Championships in 2015. The aggregate score was 4-1.
Sierra Leone’s early goal to silence the home crowd came from Ibrahim Konte after 29 minutes.
Ghana rallied to score twice from Thomas Agyepong and Latif Abubakari to get coach Sellas Tetteh a step closer to another championship berth.
Next up for Ghana is a game against the winner of Rwanda v Gabon.
