A Divisional Chief in the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional area in the Eastern Region, Dasebere Aboagye Oware Nkwantabisa has expressed worry at the bad state of road networks in the Akyem Traditional area.
He says the deplorable nature of the road makes it inaccessible and it is greatly affecting businesses, education, health, farming, agriculture and to a large extent worsening the residents’ economic survival.
Dasebre lashed out at political authorities for turning deaf ears to the plight of the people area.
Meanwhile, the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, had earlier warned Ghanaians against illegal mining and illegal logging.
He said illegal mining and lumbering were fast destroying the natural resources and negatively affecting the well-being of citizens and the national economy.
He was unhappy about the depletion of the Akyem Abuakwa forest areas especially the Birim River and called for urgent steps to be taken against the harmful practices. Osagyefuo Ofori Panin noted that the destruction of forests also rid it of vital medicinal plants, which could be used for treating many diseases.
