Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has warned that none of the players named in his provisional squad are sure bets for the World Cup in Brazil.
Appiah named his 26-man squad on Monday for the team’s pre-World Cup matches against Holland and South Korea in May and June and is expected to find the final 23 for the World Cup after the training camp.
However, he has stated that none of the players called up are guaranteed places in the final World Cup squad.
” None of the players have got a visa to Brazil. I have named 26 players and we believe that they are all competent.
That is why we will have training sessions here in Ghana on the 20th before flying to play Holland and then to the US for the South Korea match.”
He went further to state that his final squad would only be decided after observing the group over the pre-World Cup training period.
” I cannot tell who will miss out at this moment. We have to travel to Holland and the USA and go through all those days before making a decision. When all that is done, then I will be able to tell who will go to Brazil.”
Ghana will play Holland on the 31st in Rotterdam and South Korea on the 9th of June, 2014 in Miami before flying to Brazil for their first group game on the 16th of June against the United States of America in Natal.
