Electricity consumers in the Brong Ahafo Region will soon be spared the long queues and time used to purchase pre-paid credits from the vending points of Volta River Authority, VRA and the Northern Electrification Development Company (NEDCO).
This comes in the wake of a third party pre-payment vending pilot project rolled out in the Sunyani and Takyiman Municipalities.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the VRA/NEDCO in the region, Alhassan Ababah, the third party pre-payment vendor system is being rolled out as a result of the high demand for prepaid credits due to the about 50,000 prepaid meters installed in households in the various districts.
Mr. Ababah noted that the vendor system which allows private individuals and companies to buy and sell the credits to customers will release consumers of the delays in getting credits from VRA and NEDCO as well as give them access to credit on weekend.
He observed that although the third party vendor system will be extended to all their operational areas, VRA/NEDCO is starting on a pilot basis in the Sunyani Techiman municipality, to see how effective and efficient the system will be before launching it out to other areas.
