Union Savings and Loans Company has engaged in a series of activities at the Dome market in Accra to promote environmental health and financial literacy among traders, shoppers, drivers and other users of the market.

Employees of the company led by some top management staff were supported by the Zoomlion Waste Management Company to embark on a three-hour clean-up exercise in and around the main Dome market, during which they shared ideas with the people on ways to keep the market tidy at all times.

The officers from Union also took the people in the market through book-keeping, tips on business and financial management as well as basic banking practices.

The company also presented 10 waste bins to the Ga East Municipal Assembly to support the assembly’s environmental health promotion efforts.

The Head of Business at Union Savings and Loans, Mr Dominic Donkoh, who presented the bins said, “Wherever Union operates, we will continually support the local authorities to meet the basic needs of the people”.

He hinted that, “Union may consider feasible proposals from district assemblies for public-private partnerships geared towards infrastructural development as well as other development oriented activities as part of our corporate social responsibilities”.

To help make banking products and services more attractive to the people, Mr Donkoh said Union holds financial clinics periodically at its branches, during which customers are taken through banking tips.

The Manager of the Dome branch of Union Savings, Mr Elvis Mensah assured the traders, commercial drivers and all the people in the area of the company’s unflinching support for their businesses.

The Coordinating Director of the Ga East Municipal Assembly, Mr Martin Dasan promised that the assembly will soon gravel the grounds in the market to prevent the place from getting muddy whenever it rained.

He thanked Union for the kind gesture and also charged the people who use the market to keep it clean at all t at all times.
