Princess Umul Hatiyya Ibrahim Mahama, the lady who rode a bicycle from Accra to Tamale to raise funds for the construction a six unit classroom block for Nouri Imam Primary School at Tootingli near Tamale has launched her maiden book.
The book titled, The Mad Duck; an inspirational story on how to live your best life was launched in Accra on Wednesday.
Delivering her speech, the author of the book, Princess Mahama indicated that although many may consider her ways unconventional, her drive to explore, succeed and make a change in the lives of deprived children in Ghana urges her on.
She narrated her numerous trips from West Africa to North Africa by road and her adventures around the world with little money to survive on.
According to her, traveling helps you “to learn to make do with what you have, you grow, you learn, you become…for me that is what travel does. It stretches me, it makes me grow, it teaches me, it opens my heart.”
Princess Mahama labelled herself as a “strong advocate for educating our minds because with our minds, we can change our world” and this is the priority of her foundation.
She has so far visited counties including Australia, United Kingdom, Morocco, Mali, New Zealand, Senegal, Mauritania and China and expressed the hope that her book will inspire others to find their purpose.
The various reviewers of the book described it as a must read for persons seeking to live a purpose driven life.
The Managing Director of Spec Consult, Edem Adzaho said: “It is an exposure centric…you will start to have conversations with yourself; internal conversations and who knows, you might not write a book but finding your purpose will impact your world.”
The Human Resource Director of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), Samuel Allotey on his part stated that the book is “a deep philosophical book…It’s an inspirational book of triumph and conquest of that pillar of dreams.”
The Mad Duck was launched by the former Chief Executive Officer of The Ghana Chamber of Mines, Dr. Joyce Aryee and it was sponsored by Stanbic Bank, Manet Group, Mawums Construction Limited.
10% of all the proceeds go to the PUH Foundation; an organization dedicated to building primary schools in deprived communities.
Princess Mahama is a Speaker, Entrepreneur and a Writer. She has a wide range of experience in administration acquired both in Ghana and abroad. She is a passionate reader and adventurer.
