The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced a GHC 1000 a reward for residents who will give information that will lead to the arrest of people who illegally possess AK 47 rifles.
The Deputy Ashanti Regional Police commander, ACP Osei Kwaku Ampofo-Duku made the appeal in Kumasi at a press briefing.
“The regional command want to reiterate the fact that a reward of GHC 1000 has been promised anybody who will help retrieve an AK47 rifle that is commonly used by robbers in the metropolis, ’he said.
He also called for public assistance in the fight against crime. “The police need [the support] of the public since security these days is a shared responsibility; we need information about criminal hideouts and information about people with suspicious characters who live among us in our localities,’’ ACP Ampofo-Duku added.
The call follows recent robbery and crime cases recorded in the region.
