The Police administration has interdicted the Head of the Tesano Office of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) for professional misconduct.
DSP Sophia Eva Anim is alleged to have granted bail to a suspected rapist contrary to the law.
Head of Police Public Affairs, DSP Cephas Arthur in an interview with Citi News said: “she is being investigated for having granted bail to a suspected who is being held for having raped somebody’’.
According to DSP Arthur, the police do not have the power at their level to grant bail in such situations.
‘’Rape and other crimes such as robbery, arson, treason, murder and the rest the police haven’t got the power at their level to grant bail; if a police officer goes out of their way to grant bail in a situation like this, its deem as a profession misconduct,’’ he noted.
DSP Sophia Eva Anim took over from Assistant Chief Superintendent Esperanza Ayensu who was also interdict in 2013 on grounds of misconduct.
