Newly elected executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will formally take over the realm of affairs as the old executives officially handover and render accounts today.
The new executives, led by the party Chairman, Paul Afoko were sworn in on April 13 in Tamale after the party’s delegates’ conference in the Northern regional capital.
Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, immediate past National Chairman and Kwadjo Owusu Afrieyie, immediate past General Secretary both lost their re-election bid to Paul Afoko and Kwabena Adjei Agyapong respectively.
The only old executive member who retained her seat was Otiko Afisa Djaba, National Women’s Organiser of the party. All the others were replaced through the power of the ballot in a process that went late into the night to the early hours of the next day.
Addressing his maiden press conference, Paul Afoko who campaigned on the theme “new plan for power: A desire to rebrand, restructure, and to recapture power”, called for civility in comments of all flag bearer aspirants. He indicated that the handing over process will begin on Wednesday. According to him “once we take control in terms of the physical hand over then we can begin the process of restructuring.”
