The National Hajj Board has announced new fares for this year’s holy pilgrimage to Mecca.
Prospective Pilgrims will now pay an amount of 3,450 dollars with accommodation, transport and feeding inclusive.
Addressing a news conference on Thursday, the Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Rauf Tanko said all the necessary arrangements have been put in place for a successful Hajj this year.
According to him, the Board has been compelled to charge its fares in dollars since the service providers in Saudi Arabia will also charge their fees in the dollars.
He, however, stated that the Board will accept the cedi currency and convert it to dollars if pilgrims can’t pay in dollars.
“All the services that we expect from the service providers is in dollars. We will take the money in cedis, but we will pay the money in dollars because we have to change the money and transfer to the service providers in Saudi Arabia.”
