Ghana_UpperEastThe Upper East New Patriotic Party (NPP) regional Chairman, Alhaji Adam Mahama, has called for the need to deepen religious tolerance in the nation’s zongo communities.

He said residents of zongo communities especially the youth should desist from acts that make society think they are violent people.

According Alhaji Adam, zongo residents contribution to the development of the nation cannot be undermined, hence the need for them to consolidate their gains in national development.

He spoke to Citi News after meeting with leaders of the Muslim community in Bolgatanga, the Upper East regional capital.

“To the zongos, I want them to know that they are part of decision making because I am one of them, so whatever it is I will make sure that when our great party comes to power the zongo will have its fair share of the national cake.”

He boasted saying, “when you go to zongo you will realize that there are top class people living in zongo; they are people who can think well, they are people who have the authority and I am part of them in zongo.”
