legonThe Ministry of Education has asked the University of Ghana to submit a report on the state of affairs at the University.

In a letter signed by the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa asked the University of Ghana to “respectfully as a matter of urgency submit a Report on the issues that have arisen as a result of the actions of the University of Ghana to regulate access to the premises of the University.’’

According to the letter, the Ministry has taken note that the matter is creating a great deal of public disaffection, unease and controversy, as well as a matter of national concern.

The letter further noted that per the provision of Section 26 (1) (2) and (3) the University of Ghana Council had failed to submit a Report for 2013 on the state of affairs of the University to the Minister.

The University is  expected to submit the report latest by Friday, 21st March, 2014.
