GHANA-VOTE-RESULTThe Northern Regional Police command has deployed additional personnel to the troubled Kpandai district.

This followed renewed chieftaincy clashes between two rival groups in Kpandai during which one person died on Tuesday March 25, 2014.

It was unclear what triggered the renewed clashes but the police said the area was relatively calm today.

Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed that one person was shot dead but that no arrest had been made at the time of the interview.

ASP Ebenezer said there were enough personnel on the ground to contain the situation.

“The police have dispatched reinforcement to the area and as we speak now the place is calm and the police will continue to be there to ensure that the place remained calm.”

In a related development, a 20 year old man was on Tuesday March 25, 2014 shot dead in the Savelugu district of the northern region by unknown assailants.

ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said the police are yet to establish the cause of the murder.

“One Zakariah Adams age about 20 was shot dead by unknown assailants in the Savelugu district at about 11; 30 pm and his remains have been deposited at the Tamale West Hospital morgue.”

He appealed to the public to assist the police to arrest the perpetrators of that crime.
