The Chief of Suhum in the Eastern Region, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi I is appealing to government to release funds for the completion of the Accra-Suhum road.
Construction work on the road, which begun six years ago has stalled due to lack of funds.
Speaking to Citi News, Osabarima Ayeh Kofi said initially the construction was supposed to take about 39 months but 5 years has gone by without any progress on the construction.
“I think the funding is not forthcoming both from the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and from the Member of Parliament’s end,” he said
He further appealed to the Minister of Finance and the President to find a lasting solution to the problem.
“We are all expecting that funds will be made available for the completion of the road. I will appeal to the Minister of Finance and of course the President if they can find money anywhere to complete it, we shall really be appreciative.”
Meanwhile Member of Parliament for the area, Frederick Opare Ansah has promised that the road will be completed soon.
“Government is fully aware and we will continue to make government aware of the need to make sure the project is completed on time.”
