The Consumer Action Front (CAF) says energy service providers should provide clear information to address the concerns of power consumers in the country.
According to the group, structured information has not been relayed since the energy crisis began.
Ghana is undergoing a load shedding exercise due to the low supply of gas from Nigeria.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) have given assurances that they are working around the clock to ensure power supply returns to normalcy.
The Energy Minister upon negotiations with Nigerian authorities on the supply of gas to Ghana has also indicated the situation will soon be resolved.
A representative from the Consumer Action Front, Dauda Mohammed Suru in an interview with Citi News however advised government to stop ignoring suggestions from civil society groups on how to deal with the power crisis.
He recommended that the ECG should be ordered to “settle all their debts to VRA and GRIDCo within a reasonable period. We think that the attitude through which ECG loses close to 28% of energy supply to them as against 3.8% as the industry standards is unacceptable.”
