Yaya Toure was his usual commanding self in the Manchester City midfield as they crushed city rivals and hosts Manchester United 0-3 in the English Premier League on Tuesday night.
But it is the Cote d’Ivoire international’s stoppage time goal that has had everyone wondering just how far he can take his season.
A brace by Bosnia-Herzegovina star Edin Dzeko had virtually sealed the points for City before Yaya struck a low shot home to make it his fourth goal in his last two games.
It was his 17th goal of the season and amazingly keeps the 30-year-old as City’s top scorer of the season so far, ahead of the injury-plagued Argentine striker Sergio Aguero who has 15 and Dzeko who has 10.
Yaya, who became the first central midfielder in City’s history to reach 10 league goals in a single season, taunted United after the game, tweeting: “Manchester is and always will be Blue”.

He has now scored an incredible 21 goals in all competitions this season and looks far from stopping.
“I came to the club to make history and I hope to continue to the end of my contract,” he told City TV recently.
“I think the club and the fans need trophies, need history and need great players to come here and try to make this club great.
“We have the team, we have the players, we have the manager as well.
“I hope at the end of the season we lift this trophy for these fans who love City.”
Incredibly after winning three straight African Player of the Year awards, the former Barcelona star is already a frontrunner for a fourth straight crown, especially if he has a great World Cup campaign.
